A+D Visiting Artist Lecture: Michael Markwick

Artist Michael Markwick will be discussing his work in a public lecture. Studio visits will be given to Graduate and undergraduate art and design Students.

>> Michael Markwick is a painter based in Berlin, Germany, and The Hague, the Netherlands. He has exhibited extensively, participating in group and solo exhibitions at The Gemeentemuseum of the Hague (NL), De Veemvloer (NL), Gallery Tanya Rumpff (NL), the Dordrechts Museum (NL), The Autocenter Berlin (DE), Galerie In Vorm (BE), and the Scuola Internazionale di Grafica (IT), amongst many other leading contemporary art centers, galleries, and alternative spaces in the EU. Markwick has been nominated for numerous awards, residencies, and grants, such as the Netherlands Royal Painting Prize in 2006, the Wim Izaks prize in 2008, and he was twice awarded the highly competitive Basisstipendium by the Mondriaan Fund (NL), in 2006 and 2011.
His work resides in many private and corporate collections in the EU, North America, and Asia, including the Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp (BE), The Frans Masereel Centrum (BE), and the Hong Kong Open Printshop (CN). He has been an artist in residence at the Scuola Internazionale di Grafica in Venice (IT), Dordrechts Museum (NL), Amsterdam Grafische Atelier (NL), and the Kunstfabrik Am Flutgraben, Berlin (DE).
